Eric and Heather ChanSchatz: Universal Platform

New York-based artists Eric and Heather ChanSchatz open a new season at the Westmont Museum of Art. “Eric and Heather ChanSchatz: Universal Platform” will be on display from Sept. 2 to Nov. 19. The public is invited to a free, opening reception Friday, Sept. 2, from 4-6 p.m. A conversation with the artists is scheduled for 5 p.m.
The four projects in “Universal Platform” define ten years of events from Sept. 11, 2001 to Sept. 11, 2011 and include artworks based on ChanSchatz’s interaction with artists, students and the people of Cairo; American soldiers and military personnel based in Iraq; the global youth generation known as Millennials; and stateless individuals rescued from human trafficking in Thailand.
The work of Eric and Heather ChanSchatz has been represented in gallery and museum exhibitions internationally including the Saatchi Gallery, London; the Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver; the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati; the Austrian Cultural Forum, New York City; and the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. The artists are currently preparing for a solo exhibition at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York.
Jenchi Wu Sculpture Garden

Westmont's sixth annual outdoor sculpture exhibition features ceramic work by Jenchi Wu. Wu, who leads the sculpture and ceramics program at Ventura College, is know for large-scale work that challenges preconceptions about the role of ceramics as a contemporary art form. Her work will be on view around campus throughout the academic year.

These paired exhibitions will explore the history and art of Santa Barbara County's first residents. The displays will be on view during library hours throughout the fall semester.
5X5: An Invitational

Artists and public figures from across the nation have been invited to create 5-inch square works of art. Their creations will be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the Museum.
Continua in Light: Video Installation by Cheryl Calleri and Thekla Hammond

This exhibition unveils a new work by Bay Area artists Cheryl Calleri and Thekla Hammond, whose conceptual video art is both thought provoking and beautiful to see. An original dance choreographed by Erlyne Whiteman, professor in Westmont's dance program, will interact with the art as it unfolds.
Mexican Prints: Selections from the Gil Garcia and Marti Correa de Garcia Collection
